Wellness Retreats and Programming


The Wellness Program offers a variety of retreats and programming to enhance, educate, and encourage students to participate in their own well-being while establishing strong help-seeking behaviors. Below is a brief overview of the programming that that the Wellness Program covers.

New Student Retreat

The retreat is a three day, two night retreat in Northern Arizona that focuses on establishing early skills in student well-being, diversity, leadership and professionalism with incoming first year students. The camp is led by Student Affairs staff, faculty, and second year medical students. The retreat allows for early bonding between the class and the opportunity to set-students up for success even before they step on campus.

Transitions Student Retreat

This is a half day retreat with the transitioning second year to third year students. The retreat focuses on student to student advice about how to be well and successful in the clerkship rotations. There are also discussions around burnout, mistreatment, imposter syndrome, self-awareness, mindfulness, and self-care tools/resources during clinical years.
